The short story
Disco Star is a free-to-play match-3 game that revolves around disco! Through the Village People license, the game allows players to collect disco records and play them during levels — the music changes dynamically depending on how well the player performs.
While I originally started as senior game designer on LiveOps, with the long-term sick leave of the lead designer, I eventually took on more and more tasks:
- Designing and implementing game features and (LiveOps) events (including UI/UX prototyping)
- Creating, balancing, and implementing match-3 levels
- Overseeing outsource level designers in creating match-levels
- Implementing new Scenes
- Designing and maintaining the game’s balance
- Taking charge of all text and localization in the game
The biggest event I worked on is a competitive race event, but it’s still in development as of the time of writing. As example of my work, here are some screenshots from the collect event called Beat the Blues.
